Night World No. 1 by L.J. Smith

Night World

Vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters--they live amoung us without our knowledge. Night World is their secret society, a secret society with very strict rules. And falling in love breaks all the laws of the Night World.

In Secret Vampire, Poppy thought the summer would last forever. Then she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Now Poppy's only hope for survival is James, her friend and secret love. A vampire in the Night World, James can make Poppy immortal. But first they both must risk everything to go against the laws of the Night World.

Fugitives from Night World, three vampire sisters leave their isolated home to live amoung the humans in Daughters of Darkness. Their brother, Ash, is sent to bring the girls back, but he falls in love with their beautiful friend.

Two witch cousins fight over their high school crush. It's a battle between black magic and white magic in Spellbinder.

**********************************************************************************
==I have NOT bought this book before because I didn't like the look of the girl on the cover. Cheesy huh?

SECRET VAMPIRE: I was disappointed a bit on this story. First of all, Poppy is a twin. But the twin connection was downplayed ALOT. If Phil really cared, he should of really wanted to stay with Poppy and yet has no desire. Will there be another part of these people's story? Ash is stupid in this book. And everything wrapped up so quickly. No punishment for breaking the Law. No one at all. The only good part was the description of the blood exchange.

DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS: Why didn't they just call the police when they found out about the Aunt? Do you ever wonder why they never did in the first place? The girls were innocent. But I guess if they came from that isolated place, maybe they wouldn't of known. I thought this story was weak...and only got exciting just before it ended. I still don't trust that Bunny. But will they follow Ash's story? And what's wrong with all these young generation just throwing caution to the wind.....?

SPELLBOUND: I actually found this one better. I like the characters a lot better than any of the others. The author spent more time to develop the characters and had two scenes of climax. It was better written and the descriptions had improved as well. This story I would be eager to find out what happens next.==

And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol---a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and peeta to visit the disctricts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

****************************************************************************
==This book was MIND BLOWING! I loved every bit of it. The books leaves so much hanging at the end, so may questions, that you have to have to read the third book. I cried when they visited District 11. By far, Suzanne Collins is my 2nd most favorite author.

When you can read a book and the scenes are transformed right before your eyes. You don't have to even try to consentrate on the scenes. Even though the book doesn't exhaustingly paint the picture, you see everything. I love to read this and Hunger Games over and over.

==At first sight, the book didn't look interesting. Also, the fact that the book was only available in hard cover usually is a turn off for me too. Too formal. But...on the advice of Jenn, who hasn't let me down yet, I went ahead and read it.

I could NOT put this book down. Stephanie Meyer was right about this one!

The book is so well written, it's like watching a movie inside your head. You are transported there. You live through everything with the characters. You laugh aloud and cry in silence. The ending of the book leaves you aching for more...==

P.S. I was glad that the book wasn't paranormal at all.

Dark Visions by L.J. Smith

NOT ALL VAMPIRES ARE OUT FOR BLOOD....

Kaitlyn Fairchild has always felt like an outsider in her small hometown. Her haunting eyes and prophetic drawings have earned her a reputation as a witch. But Kait's not a witch; She's a psychic. Tired of being shunned, Kait accepts an invitation to attend the Zetes Institute, where she can have a fresh start and study with other psychic teens.

Learning to hone her abilities with four other gifted students, Kait discovers the intensity of her power--and the joy of having true friends. But those friendships quickly become complicated when Kait finds herself torn between two irresisitible guys. Rob is kind and athletic, and heals people with his good energy. Gabriel is aggressive and mysterious, a telepath concealing his true nature as a psychic vampire, feeding off of others' life energy. Together, Rob and Gabriel's opposing forces threaten the group's stability.

Then one of the experiments traps the five teens in a psychic link. A link that threatens their sanity and their lives. And Kaitlyn must decide whom to trust...and whom to love.

**********************************************************************************
==The line on the cover about "not all vampires being out for blood" did it for me.
I wish the cover of the book though portrayed the actual main character. She has red hair, when the picture on the cover is a blonde. I thought it was very quick for everything to fall apart at the Zetes Institute, but I actually had a good time with them on the run. Again, it was quick that Rob and Kait joined up, and found it weak when they ended it at the end. I didn't care for the whole other race of psychics, the Fellowship . I thought that was a big waste.

What I did enjoy and made the whole book special for me was the whole mind link they all ended up having. Also, the fact that Gabriel (the bad one, my fav) becomes vulnerable. Having to use Kaitlyn and when he does, how sensual it is. The way they leave it open for another book at the end...I'm looking forward to another.==

Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler

Photobucket

A love beyond life...a danger beyond doubt.

When her boyfriend, Tristan, died, Ivy thought she'd lost everything, even her faith in angels. But now she's discovered that he's her guardian angel---his presence so strong that she can feel the touch of his hand, the beat of his heart. Ivy needs Tristan now more than ever because he knows she's in terrible danger. Only Ivy's guardian angel can save her, now that his killer is after her.

But if Tristan rescues Ivy, his mission on earth will be finished, and he must leave her behind forever. Will saving Ivy mean losing her just when he's finally reached her again?

**********************************************************************************
==I'll admit, I have seen this book around for a long time. Everytime I go to the bookstore or Target, I see it. Staring at me. I pick it up and read the back over and over. Do I want to read a book about angels? I moan and roll my eyes and place it back on the shelf.

I had a long trip to take and needed a book. So I finally broke down and bought it. I am a sucker for book covers and I liked the way it looked. I actually didn't read it on my trip. I waited until I was in between books I really liked, then finally read it.

I actually loved this book. The whole angel believing was played down a lot more than I thought it would. I thought the story was innocent and sweet. The love Tristan has for Ivy was warming. Seeing the struggles Ivy has with the accident and his death was satisfying. (I have a thing for heartache and pain). I liked the way the book was handled. The only thing I didn't care for was how quickly Tristan was able to move on and Ivy as well.==

Thirst by Christopher Pike

As to blood----
ah, blood, the whole suject fascinates me. I do like that as well, warm and dripping, when I am thirsty. And I am often thisty...

Alisa has been in control of her urges for the five thousand years she has been a vampire. She feeds but does not kill, and she lives her life on the fringe to maintain her secret. But when her creator returns to hunt her, she must break her own rules in order to survive.

Her quest leader her to Ray. he is the only person who can help her; he also has every reason to fear her. Alisa must get closer to him to ensure her immortality. But as she begins to fall in love with Ray, suddenly there is more at stake than her own life....

**********************************************************************************
==I HATED this book. I had a miserable feeling like a constant disgust and headache while I read this book. But you know how it is. You already bought the book, might as well finish it.

I had just come off a lot of other "vampire" stories, so I figured "what the hell...". But ugh! the story was terrible. And I swear it is because it was written by a man. He lingered on gruesome killing details, how she seduces men (sexual stuff), and seemed obsessed over his characters body. This didn't seem like a teen book to me!

I had such high hopes going into this book. Oooo are they going to play with the fact that she is rich? Are we going to see more with that? Get to play in that aspect of vampires? Secrets she has? The High School? What was the point of the whole high school crap? And the fact that the nerd is writing her story......stupid stupid stupid.

I didn't like the whole angle of Krishna...I don't even know anything about that. I had to look it up. The whole time, she was trying to die...3 books into one and even at the end, she still wasn't dead yet! I know there is a #2...but no thanks==

a Blue Bloods novel

Schuyler Van Alen's blood legacy has just been called in question: is the young vampire in fact a Blue Blood, or is it the sinister Silver Blood that runs through her veins? ==Great book. I love the way it still twists even though you pretty much know where it is headed. I will read the next one. Maybe I'll even read more of the author's other books.==

Blue Bloods (Blue Bloods Series #1) by Melissa De La Cruz

a Blue Bloods novel

Schuyler Van Alen has never fit in at Duchesne, her prestigious New York City private school. She prefers baggy, vintage clothes to the Prada and pearls worn by her classmates. But when she turns fifteen, Schuyler's life changes dramatically. The death of a popular schoolmate haunts her in unexpected ways. And strangest of all, Jack Force, the most popular boy in school, is showing a sudden interest in her.

Once an outcast, Schuyler is thrust into Manhattan's most exlusive social circle. Its members are the powerful, the wealthy, and---as Schuyler soon discovers---the unhuman. They are Blue Bloods, an ancient group of vampires, and for centuries they've been invincible. Now something is preying on this elite group, and Schuyler wants to find out the truth. But is she the most vulnerable of them all?

**********************************************************************************
==Yes, another "vampire" series. But the thought of rich spoiled brat vampires...promised something different. I was not disappointed. I loved the fact that the main character dressed different even though her family had every right to be where she was. Since I was used to 700+ page books, these were snacks.

It was cool that not only are they vampires (they didn't spend too much time on this fact), but they are also old souls of the Angels that fell from heaven following Lucifer. And......And....they came on the Mayflower. Wow... Crazy all this wrapped up in these little snack books.

The book is intriguing with a mom in a coma (popular theme), and cool guy falling for the unpopular girl, but also the relationship with these souls have with eachother. Can't wait for the next in the series!==

The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong

Darkest Powers

If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl---someone normal. Now my life has changed foreer and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiement---not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinsiter organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.

Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends---a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch---and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

**********************************************************************************
==This book was even better than the first. You really get to learn more about the characters. I loved the attitudes and crankiness of them. Freaky about the old bum and bats. Makes you want to know more and more about Chloe's mother...==

The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong

Darkest Powers

She sees dead people----and they see her.

Chloe Saunders used to have a pretty normal life. But that changed on the day she met her first ghost. Locked up in Lyle House, a group home for troubled teens, she finds out that there's more to the home's teen residents than meets the eye. Will Chloe be able to uncover the dangerous secrets of Lyle House...or will its skeletons come back to haunt her?

*******************************************************************************
== I was intrigued by the whole ghost sightings. So far the books I have read haven't dealt in something like this. So again, something different. I wish they would of put more time into this though. Everything happened so fast. Then when she is in Lyle House...you wonder, "Is this going to be like 'Girl, Interrupted'?" I did enjoy this book. I liked Derek right away and knew he would turn out to be more than origianlly implied. Yay!==

Desperate to save him, Ever trabels to the mystical dimension of Summerland, where she uncovers not only the secrets of Dame's past---the brutal, tortured history he hoped to keep hidden---but also an ancient text revealing the workings of time. Wuth the approaching blue moon heralding her only window for travel, Ever is forced to decide between turning back the clock and saving her family from the accident that claimed them---or staying in the present and saving Damen, who grows weaker by the day...

**********************************************************************************
==I was eager to get on with the story. To learn more. But it was heartbreaking when Damen turns against her. How everyone becomes so mean. The one thing I thought was wierd was that all this time, this guy has been waiting to get into the characters pants. Every chance he gets to get some, something happens and he has to wait again. Nutty...

I did really like the book and was so upset when she realized she doomed herself and Damen at the end. Can't wait for the next....==

The only thing she knows to be true is that she's falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

************************************************************************************
==This was the first book series that I picked on my own. Without Genny or Jenn's advice, I wasn't sure. But I really loved this book. I dig psychic stuff..but it had more to it. The mystery guy almost makes you wonder if this will be another "vampire" story, but what it ends up being is totally unexpected. It was a nice surprise.== ***********************************************************************************

Fragile Eternity by Melissa Marr

Wicked Lovely

SETH NEVER EXPECTED he would want to settle down with anyone---but that was before Aislinn. She is everything he'd ever dreamed of, and he wants to be with her forever. Forever takes on new meaning, though, when your girlfriend is an immortal faery queen.

Aislinn never expected to rule the very creatures who'd always terrified her---but that was before Keenan. He stole her mortality to make her a monarch, and now she faces challenges and enticements beyond any she'd ever imagined.

== I thought Seth was trying a little too hard for someone who didn't deserve it. He is the cool one, the Summer Court are fools. And Aislinn is a whiney pain in the butt. I dug his brotherly bond with Niall. Sorcha, is an interesting character. Her relationship with her sister is one I would like to read more about. Until then.....==

Wicked Lovely

Seventeen-year-old Leslie knows nothing of faeries or their shadowy power struggles. When she is attracted to an eerily beautiful tattoo, all she knows is that she has to have it, convinced it is a tangible symbol of changes she desperately craves for her own life.

The tattoo does bring changes---not the kind that Leslie has dreamed of, but sinister, compelling changes that bind Leslie to Irial, a dark and dangerous faery king fighting for the soul of his court. Slowly, Leslie is drawn deeper and deeper into the faery world, unable to resist its allures, and helpless to withstand its perils...

***********************************************************************************
==This book sounded stupid. Seriously. And Jenn made it sound a little like this book was somewhat unnecessary in the series. But in actuality, this book was my favorite of them all! I loved the darker characters of the Dark Court. For someone like me, this hit all the spots...from torn between two guys (evil ones), and then Bananach. I still do that teeth click to my kids and they do it back, even though they don't know what it's from. I was moved by Irial in the end and sad for Niall.==

Rule #3:
Don't stare at invisible faeries.

Rule #2:
Don't speak to invisible faeries.

Rule #1:
Don't ever attract their attention.

Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. When the rules that have kept Aislinn safe from them stop working, everything is suddenly on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.

********************************************************************************************
==After coming out of The Mortal Instruments, again I was afraid of starting a new book. Jenn told me if I wanted to know more about faeries, I should read these. I actually had no desire to learn more about faeries. Didn't seem interesting to me. But...since I didn't have anything else...what the hell?

It was unexpected, the world that is portrayed in this series. I liked the book...really.==

==I read the Twilight series I'd say about 5 times each. Plus watching the movie over and over. I didn't want to leave. The story was too perfect, how could ANYTHING even compare? I'd walk around, not knowing what to do. My love for books reignited...

I told my friend Jenn about it. She told me about The Mortal Instruments. She was in the middle of reading the last of that series and I saw how hung up she was on the characters. She really felt for them. She even mentioned that Stephanie Meyer herself loved the series.

So after seeing the book online, Stephanie Meyer praise right on the cover of the book, I thought I'd give it a try. If the author of my favorite books loved it, it couldn't be bad, right? And did ya catch that book cover.....drool.

It was hard for me at first to get into it, but after a few chapters, it took off. I read non-stop until it was finished. I couldn't wait for more.

Twilight Saga

This is 'Twilight' according to Edward. But this is an unfinished manuscript...

**********************************************************************************
==I LOVED this almost as much as 'New Moon'. I learned so much more from reading this about everything. I realized the motives of everyone and it tied up a lot of loose ends. If you read this BEFORE you read 'New Moon', you could see how it is possible for Edward to leave. It also makes it more bittersweet when Edward and Bella reunite in 'New Moon'.

I was just as amazed and humored as Edward was about Bella's reaction to things. It put things into prepective and makes you truely understand everyone's reasoning.

It was a hard read at first. But once you understand how it is set up, it flows easily. I think about the third time I read it, I had 'Twilight' along side. Read Bella's point of view, then Edward's.==
