The Pace (Series #1) by Shelena Shorts

Nineteen-year-old Weston has everything. He's super hot, mysterious, dangerous, sincere and vulnerable. He's also a one-of-a-kind evolution that will change the idea of immortality forever. Anyone would be drawn to him, even without fate's intervention and when eighteen-year-old Sophie crashes into him, there's no turning back.

All that remains is figuring out who, or what, he is, and with a little perseverance, she'll find out the indelible truth-right along with a century-old secret...and a threat for which neither of them are prepared.

==Interesting book. It was hard to get into at first. Hard to picture the characters. A slow read when the author has to tell you Sophie's whole schedule. But I did enjoy it. I would read the sequel. I wish the author hadn't tied in Sophie's nonchalant comments into real events in her previous life. That made it kind of cheesy to realize she actually did drive off a cliff and such. All in all, I liked it. But please someone tell the author to get a new book cover...this one does nothing for enticing readers. It's just plain ugly...and yes, I do judge a book by it's cover.==

Night Runner by Max Turner

HE'S ON A RACE FOR ANSWERS--EVERY STEP IS TAKING HIM CLOSER TO THE DARKEST OF TRUTHS

For Zack Thomson, living in the Nicholls Ward isn't so bad. After his parents died, he developed strange and severe allergies, and the mental institution was the only place where he could be properly looked after. As strange as it was, it was home. He could watch as much television as he wanted; his best friend, Charlie, often visitied him; and Nurse Ophelia sometimes took him bowling. Of course, that didn't mean he had it easy. His allergies restricted his diet to strawberry smoothies, and being the only kid at the hospital could get lonely. But it never once crosses Zack's mind to leave...until the night someone crashes through the front doors and tells him to run. Along with Charlie and a girl he may or may not be falling in love with, he does just that: run. Under cover of night, hiding amoungst the shadows, he races for the truth.

==Interesting twist with vampirism being seen as a disease that others wish to cure. It's funny how different people describe vampires. Always so different. Anyways. this book was more for guys...being a male author probably explains why. The book was overall entertaining. I can see myself reading the sequels. There is a lot to cover. So you can excuse the cheesy parts and the author being green.==

Immortal by Gillian Sheilds

Wyldcliffe Abbey School for Young Ladies, housed in a Gothic mansion on the bleak northern moors, is elite, expensive, and unwelcoming. When Evie Johnson is torn away from her home by the sea to become the newest scholarship student, she is more isolated than she could have dreamed. Strict teachers, snobbish students, and the oppressive atmosphere of Wyldcliffe leave Evie drowning in loneliness.

Evie's only lifeline is Sebastian, a rebellious, mocking, dangerously attractive young man she meets by chance. As Evie's feelings for Sebastian grow with each secret meeting, she starts to fear that he is hiding something about his past. And she is haunted by glimpes of a strange, ghostly girl--a girl who is so eerily like Evie, she could be a sister. Evie is slowly drawn into a tangled web of past and present that she cannot control. And as the extraordinary, elemental forces of Wyldcliffe rise up like the mighty sea, Evie is faced with an astounding truth about Sebastian, and her own incredible fate.

==This book feels like it was written for 6th graders. The concept was good, but it could of been written so much better. It drags and drags, like Evie is a delibrate story that must coincide with Agnes..or else the book is nothing. The book is predictible and kinda cheesy when all four girls end up like superheros of the elements. The story ends with built up to another book. But do I really want to read it? I hope the author grows before she writes the sequel.==

Ballad by Maggie Stiefvater

Remember us,
so sing the dead,
lest we remember you...

*********************************************************************************
==This book wasn't that great. Even though I liked to continue with James' story, I didn't dig the girl fairy. Then having Deirdre in and out, and all those text messages...blah. I hope this seris doesn't continue.==

Night World No. 3 by L.J. Smith

Vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters--they live amoung us without our knowledge. Night World is their secret society, a secret society with very strict rules. And fallin in love breaks all the laws of the Night World.

The apocalypse is drawing near. But four Wild Powers can save the world from the impending doom. Circle Daynreak, an underground organization with both Night World and human members, is searching for the hour who can stop the darkness.

A vampire hunter--who is half vampire--stalks her own kind to protect humans in Huntress.

In Black Dawn, Maggie stumbles upon an old Night World kingdom where the ruling vampire prince is both an enemy and an ally.

And Circle Daybreak hires Keller, a shapeshifting panther, to guard a new Wild Power in Witchlight. But when Keller falls in love with the Wild Power's soulmate, her love could destroy everything....

***************************************************************************************
==I actually liked Huntress. There was a lot of action and suspense. The story twisted just the right way. But after reading the other two books, I could see that the author had to FINALLY figure out what all her stories were going to lead up to. Like wandering around in a forrest, then remembering you actually have to go someplace and you better hurry.

Black Dawn was really out of the norm for this author. It was nice to pick up where another story had left off with the whole slave trade. Then to get more in detail of how the slaves are treated and how the other people of the Night World are so cut off from the Outside. I liked Maggie and liked Delos even more.

Witchlight was kind of annoying. You kinda knew what was going to happen all along. But what was great about this book was that she actually spent an exhausting amount of time describing the shapeshifters. She had never done that before and I thought it was greatly written. Keller was great and so was the Dragon. The other characters were a snooze and I wished the author spent more time in the Soulmate moments. But I guess after 3 books, she figured you knew already. ==
